“All the people who are dissatisfied with what's happening in the country need to come together and express their opinion and that's going to be the only thing that fixes anything,” Jen Smith from Salem, New Hampshire said.
During the march, Boston Police and State Police worked together to maintain a safe environment for protesters and shut down streets as the protesters marched.
A spokesperson for the Boston Police Department said the crowd was estimated to be around 4,000 people at its peak, although by 9 p.m. many of those participating had left. There were no arrests reported.
Earlier in the day, several hundred people gathered outside the Statehouse with a similar message.
Protest organizer Elan Axelbank said the long term goal was to build a sustainable grassroots movement of the majority of people who don't subscribe to what he called "Trump's racist ideas."
While Trump won the Electoral College votes needed to become president, he was defeated by Democrat Hillary Clinton in Massachusetts.
