Anthony helps Knicks beat Celtics 98-95 in OT

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points and Chris Copeland had 21 to help the New York Knicks beat the Boston Celtics 98-95 in overtime in an exhibition game at the XL Center.

Tyson Chandler added 16 points for the Knicks (2-0). Jared Sulliger led the Celtics (1-2- with 14 points and Paul Pierce and Jeff Green had 12 apiece.

Copeland scored all his points in the second half and played 19 minutes. He hit two free throws with 11 seconds left to give the Knicks a three-point lead. The Celtics didn't get a shot off before time expired.

Anthony scored all his points in the third quarter and sat the remainder of the game. He picked up a technical foul in the third quarter as the Celtics built a 61-49 lead.

Midway through the fourth quarter, the Knicks went on a 12-0 run to take an 84-78 lead with 3:30 left. Trailing 86-85, the Celtics tied it on Sullinger's free throw with 16.6 seconds left.

The Knicks took a 20-second timeout with 5.2 seconds left, but Copeland missed an off-balanced shot from the perimeter as time expired.

Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire missed the games because of a bruised left knee.
