Warning issued after 2nd Boston officer's personal car possibly tampered with

BOSTON — For the second time in a month, a Boston officer's personal vehicle was reportedly tampered with.

The Boston Police Patrolman's Association said that a transit officer's personal vehicle lost a rear tire during his commute home. The AAA mechanic that responded to help said it appeared the lug nuts were intentionally loosened, as reported on FOX25 News at 6 and 10.

Just last month, an officer driving home after leaving the downtown Boston Police Department lost a wheel, and mechanics said the lugnuts had been loosened.

"Definitely concerning and somebody could have lost their life," said Dan Linskey, a former BPD chief and security expert.

The Boston Police Patrolman's Association sent out an email to officers that says:

"A transit officer lost a rear tire while traveling home... It was in the mechanic's opinion that it was intentionally loosened."

And the Boston Regional Intelligence Center, also known as BRIC, also put out a warning:

"The rear tire of an MBTA police officer's personal vehicle fell off while the officer was driving home... It is possible the lug nuts had been intentionally loosened."

BRIC also warned of people possibly looking to do the same at the BPD precinct in Brighton.

"On Wednesday individuals may have been taking photographs of vehicles parked in / around the D14 station."
