Amesbury bridge closed after truck hits overhead truss

AMESBURY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A bridge in Amesbury was closed Friday after a tractor-trailer hit an overhead truss.

The incident happened late Friday morning on the Bailey Bridge. The bridge was closed down amid concerns over its structural integrity.

A bridge inspection team from the Mass. Department of Transportation was expected to visit the scene to assess any damage. MassDOT officials were also helping to detour traffic away from the bridge.
