American flag at Arlington business set on fire, destroyed

ARLINGTON, Mass. — The Arlington Police Department is investigating after a police officer located an American flag on fire Tuesday morning.

Around 6:15 a.m., an on-duty officer noticed that an American Flag at Minuteman Repair Massachusetts Ave.nue

By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had already burned itself out. The flag was destroyed.

Officers began searching for suspects and while one man was interviewed, police determined he was not connected to the fire.

Police do not think it is politically motivated.

The businesses, Minuteman Repair, has been open fore more than 40 years and is locally owned. The owner is grateful there wasn't more damage and wonders why his store's flag was targeted.

The Arlington Police Department is actively investigating the incident. Anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have witnessed someone starting the fire, is asked to contact Arlington Police at 781-643-1212.
