7 arrested in connection with Springfield shooting

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Police say seven people have been arrested in connection with a late-night shooting in Springfield.

Police responded to reports of shots fired near the corner of Bridge and Chestnut streets at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Officers looked for a black Jeep that was spotted fleeing the scene. It was found about a mile away.

Police tell The Republican newspaper (http://bit.ly/1b1yOX5 ) that several officers responded and spotted an armed man leaving a clothing store. The man ran back inside the shop with officers in pursuit. The suspect, whose name was unavailable, was taken into custody along with six others. Other weapons were recovered at the scene.

No one was injured in the shooting.
