5-year-old boy struck and killed by car in Grafton

GRAFTON, Mass. — Police are investigating after a five-year-old boy was hit by a car and killed.

The crash happened near the boy’s home on Samuel Drive around 3:52 p.m. Sunday, according to the Worcester County District Attorney.

Investigators haven’t identified the boy or the driver but say the crash appears to be a tragic accident.

According to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, the boy was a kindergarten student in one of the Grafton elementary schools. He reportedly has older siblings in the school system.

The superintendent told the paper that teachers would meet with grief counselors and that there would be support teams in the schools most affected by the boy's death. The superintendent said that, in his six years as superintendent, he's never had to help staff and students deal with a loss like this.
