• 3rd person convicted in Lawrence minivan slaying

LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) — A third person has been convicted in connection with a fatal shooting of a man driving a minivan in Lawrence nearly five years ago that prosecutors say was a case of retribution.

The Eagle-Tribune (http://bit.ly/1e65LVx ) reports that Joel Javier was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole this week after being convicted of first-degree murder in connection with the Jan. 10, 2009 shooting of Robert Gonzalez.

The 27-year-old Javier's first trial in June ended in a mistrial.

Prosecutors say a dispute broke out outside a restaurant in the early morning hours and Javier lost a tooth. Authorities said later that day, Gonzalez was killed as he was driving a minivan as retribution.

Two other people have previously been convicted. One was acquitted. A fifth person awaits trial.
