3-year-old in critical condition after being thrown from truck onto Rt. 3

WEYMOUTH, Mass. — A man was arrested after police say a 3-year-old was thrown out of a truck on Rt. 3 in Weymouth overnight.

State Police say 34-year-old Florian Roshi of Weymouth was driving a truck when he veered out of the travel lane and brushed the guardrail, then swung back into the travel lane - overcorrecting his steering.

That's when police say the little boy was thrown from the truck and onto the road.

He was not wearing a seatbelt - which is a requirement in the state of Mass. - and was brought to Boston Children's Hospital in critical condition.

An 8-year-old boy was also in the truck - he was not injured and is in the custody of authorities.

Roshi is facing a number of charges - including operating under the influence of drugs, child endangerment, and safety restraint violation.

Police have not released the relationship between Roshi and the two boys.

Roshi is being held at state police barracks in Norwell until he faces a judge.

The incident remains under investigation.
