3 saved from Plymouth pond after police officers fall in during rescue attempt

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Plymouth firefighters had to rescue a man and two police officers from a frozen pond Tuesday afternoon.

The man man fell into a pond, rescuers say, and they were called in after two police offers fell in while trying to rescue him.

It happened at Fresh Pond near Clearwater Drive in Plymouth.

According to Plymouth police, a man in his 60s was ice fishing when he fell in about 20 feet off shore. The first two responding police officers fell through the ice as well.

All three were taken to the hospital to be checked out. Their conditions were not immediately available.
