3 New England states rank as the most family friendly

Three New England states have been named the best places to raise a family, according to WalletHub. 

Looking at 40 key indicators of family friendliness, WalletHub compared all 50 states. Based on 'family run', 'health and safety', 'education and child care', affordability and socioeconomics.

New Hampshire came in at number two, Vermont number three and Massachusetts number six overall for family friendliness.

New Hampshire ranked high in nearly all the indicators, the highest being the socioeconomic ranking. Vermont was the top state when it came to the health and safety rank, and Massachusetts was number two. WalletHub said Vermont has the lowest violent-crime rate per 1,000 residents, 1.18, which is 10.8 times lower than in the District of Columbia, where it is highest at 12.69.

The best state was North Dakota and the worst state was New Mexico.
