3 employees stabbed inside Methuen hospital

METHUEN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Behavioral Health Unit patient at Holy Family Hospital is accused of stabbing three staff members with a pair of scissors.

Yan Carlos Nunez, 20, of Lawrence, is charged with three counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and three counts of assault with intent to murder.

Investigators allege Nunez attacked the employees inside the Behavioral Health Unit just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. All three victims sustained what are described as superficial wounds. One victim received his injuries while trying to subdue the suspect.

Nunez was contained within the locked unit until police arrived. He is under police guard at the hospital and will be arraigned from his bed Thursday morning.
