2nd of two Boston Police officers shot has been released from hospital

BOSTON — Officer Matt Morris, who was shot in a shootout in East Boston last week, has been released from the hospital and is doing better, according to Boston Police.

Richard Cintolo was the other officer shot last Wednesday night while responding to a reported domestic disturbance in East Boston. He and Officer Matt Morris were taken to Mass General Hospital where they underwent several surgeries and spent several days listed in critical condition.

Cintolo was released from the hospital earlier this week.

“So happy to see Richie sent home. Matt’s getting better. Thanks again to everybody for all the support and prayers," Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said.

Cintolo and Morris were both treated by Dr. David King, a surgeon who also operated and helped save the lives of Boston Marathon bombing survivors.
