22-year-old Oklahoma police officer dies after chase, shooting

SHAWNEE, Okla. — A police officer in Oklahoma died Monday morning after he was shot three times, KOCO5 News reports.

Justin Terney, 22, was rushed to the hospital in serious condition after he was shot during a chase in Shawnee.

The shooting suspect was also taken to the hospital, but his condition was not known.

Terney pulled over a car and asked the man to get out of the vehicle. While Terney was patting him down, he allegedly took off running.

After a Taser failed to stop the man, police told KOCO5 Terney and the suspect exchanged gunfire; both were hit.
