2-year-old, grandmother recovering after dog attack in Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. — A 2-year-old and her grandmother are undergoing treatment for rabies after being attacked at a Lowell park.

Police say they are searching for a pit bull and hope to find it before anyone else is injured.

The attack happened on Oct. 21 at the playground near Bartlett Middle School, and thankfully the grandmother’s husband was standing by.

“The dog bite me bite, bite, bite, bite,” Hoy Bin said. “My husband come and hit the dog, and the dog come more.”

Bin has 24 stitches in her head and the girl also needed medical treatment.

The dog ran away and police are now working to identify its owner so they can test it for rabies and hopefully prevent another attack.
