2 people, 1 dog rescued from sinking boat in Plymouth pond

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Two people and a dog were rescued from a pond in Plymouth after they screamed for help as their boat sank in the chilly waters, the fire department said.

The people were taken to the Tobey Hospital to be treated for exposure because of the water temperature, but police say all three are expected to be okay.

Police said neighbors in the area heard the boaters screaming when their vessel sank and grabbed a boat of their own to rescue the trio.

The fire department says the people were lucky neighbors were around and it was quiet enough to be heard. They said no one was wearing a life jacket.

Police did not say how the boat sank.
