REVERE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Two Chelsea men were arrested this week after stealing from homes damaged by the recent tornado in Revere.

Two homes on Taft Street were broken into earlier this week, police say. A person living in the basement of one of the houses apparently heard an intruder and called police. When officers arrived, they saw one suspect allegedly jump out the window. He then took off in a stolen car that was parked nearby.

A brief chase ensued, and the suspect crashed the car and fled on foot.

Both Nelson Rodriguez, 19, and Chris Rivera, 22, were arrested on charges of breaking and entering at night, possession of burglary tools, and attempting to commit a crime. Rodriguez was interviewed by police and he gave Rivera up. Rodriguez was also charged with receiving stolen property, larceny of a motor vehicle, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and other charges.

Police say jewelry, two televisions and two camcorders were taken.
