2 high-ranking Mass. State Police officials retire effective immediately

BOSTON – Two high-ranking members state police officials have left the department, Boston 25 News learned Friday.

State Police officials confirm that as of Feb. 23, Lt. Col. Daniel Risteen and Maj. Susan Anderson have retired.

Anderson was a commander in central Massachusetts. Risteen was the field services commander and Anderson's boss.

State Police would not go into detail about the two retirements, but they come just a short time after other shakeups within the department.

Former Col. Richard McKeon and Lt. Col. Francis Hughes retired in September following alterations to the arrest report of a judge’s daughter.

Both Risteen and Anderson’s names have been mentioned in court documents that are part of a lawsuit filed against MSP by Trooper Ali Rei, who says she was forced to alter the arrest report of Allie Bibaud.

Bibaud, the daughter of Dudley District Court Judge Timothy Bibaud, was arrested in October and charged with OUI. During the arrest, she allegedly made vulgar comments that were included in the original arrest report.

Trooper Rei says she was ordered to remove the vulgarities from the arrest report by high-ranking members of the department.

The case is under investigation and it is not known if Risteen and Anderson's retirements are connected to the altered report.
