2 armed robberies in January put Quincy community on edge

QUINCY, Mass. — Quincy police are warning residents to be on alert after two armed robberies in the month of January.

Both happened in North Quincy and both involved a black suspect pointing a gun at the victim and demanding money, police say.

The first happened on Jan. 2 on Atlantic Street, when two people stepped out of their car and were accosted by the robber. Police say the suspect hit an 18-year-old Asian woman and stole her pocket book, then the 24-year-old Asian man with her gave the suspect his wallet as well.

They described the suspect as a black male about 28-30 years old, 5-foot-10, with a black hood and a mask covering his mouth.

The second incident happened on Jan. 13 just after midnight on Newbury Avenue. A 55-year-old Asian male told police the suspect asked him for money, then pulled out a gun and demanded the rest of his wallet.

Police say the suspect was described as a black male, 26 years old, 5-foot-6, weighing 150 pounds, with slight scruff on his face.

Police say residents should be vigilant, park near well-lit areas at night and always stay alert. Police say look for suspicious people and call 911 if you feel uneasy.

If a suspect approaches you and demands money, just give them your wallet; it’s not worth risking injury over.
