19-year-old pleads not guilty to charges connected to fatal crash

A 19-year-old pleaded not guilty to charges connected to a car crash that killed one passenger and seriously injured the other.

Jesus Alvarez Coreano of Brockton is charged with motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, operating to endanger and speeding.

On April 18, police responded to the report of a serious crash at 225 Summer St. in Brockton. When they arrived they found a 2006 Toyota Scion crashed into a large tree on the shoulder of the road.

Coreano, the driver, was found thrown from the vehicle and was taken to Good Samaritan in Brockton.

The front passenger, Isaias Caban, was dead and the back passenger, a 14-year-old boy, was seriously injured. The 14-year-old was taken to South Shore Hospital and then transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital.

Witnesses told police the Scion was driving fast and on the wrong side of the road before the crash.

In court Friday, neither Coreano, who was in a wheelchair, or the victim would comment on the charges.

The judge ordered Coreano to wear a GPS bracelet and not have contact with the 14-year-old or any friends or family of the victims.

He’s due back in court on July 10.

The crash was investigated by State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office and Brockton Police.
