19 cars involved in four separate crashes in O'Neill Tunnel

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Mass. State Police say 19 cars were involved in four separate crashes inside the O'Neill Tunnel Monday morning.

The crashes happened on I-93 northbound during the morning commute. One crash involved 9 cars, two others involved four. Another crash involved two cars.

According to police, only one person was transported to the hospital with a possible injury.

Traffic was backed up for several miles as crews worked to clear the scene.

The crashes happened as officials warned commuters of slick conditions in some areas. State Police said there were several crashes along the Mass. Pike Monday due to ice. They reported crashes in Palmer, Shrewsbury, and Chicopee.
