NEWTON, Mass. — A 17-year-old is in the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Newton while riding his bicycle.
Walnut Street was closed in both directions so police could investigate the accident.
“They are just trying to piece together exactly what occurred based on witness statements, statements from the driver, and psychical evidence at the scene,” Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker said.
Police believe the teen was wearing a helmet when he was hit, and the bicycle was thrown into the air.
The female driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation.
