16-year-old charged for breaking into Reading Memorial High School

READING, Mass. — A 16-year-old broke into Reading Memorial High School just after midnight Monday, according to police.

The burglar alarm went off shortly after midnight and police say officers showed up to find a male wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt wandering the halls.

Police say the person took off running with a black backpack in his hands when he saw them. In the backpack, police said they found tools for breaking in, money, a wallet and other items.

The 16-year-old has been charged with breaking and entering to commit a felony, breaking and entering into a depository, possession of burglarious tools and receiving stolen property under $250.
