$15k offered for info on Somerville fires

SOMERVILLE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Somerville officials are offering a reward for information about a series of fires in the city this summer.

At a press conference Monday afternoon, Mayor Joseph Curtatone and the Somerville fire and police departments offered a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of any person or persons involved in the fires.

Nine fires have broken out in Somerville since June 27. Three have been ruled intentional, three have been ruled as accidental, and three fires remain under investigation.

The most recent fire occurred on Belmont Street Sunday.

Detectives are pursuing a number of leads and are working closing with both state and federal agencies on these investigations, Mayor Curtatone said.

Police in Somerville have also stepped up patrols and remain vigilant.
