1 year after murder of Denise Robert, police still searching for answers

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Family and friends are remembering a newspaper reporter, brutally murdered one year ago.

Denise Robert, of Manchester went for her nightly walk when a killer took her life.

That killer is still nowhere to be found.

“She possessed boundless energy, she was always moving and that energy was infectious,” her brother Arthur said.

The memories are still fresh, and the desire to see her killer captured is strong.

“She was a sweet soul. There was no one, everybody loved her so I can’t see anyone wanting to do harm to her,” Laura Gagnon said.

Denise was 62 and a salesperson at the Union Leader newspaper when she was killed. Police said someone pulled up in a car and shot her in the head.

“It is difficult to bring justice and you haven't given up on us, the Manchester Police Department to Denise's family I can assure you we are putting every resource into it,” Manchester Police Chief Nick Willard.

A bagpiper and two officers from Manchester’s mounted patrol lead Denise's family, friends, and community members on a candle-lit walk from the church parking lot where the ceremony began to the street she was killed.

Once they arrived on Ray Street, each and every person left a flower at the spot where she was killed.

“Creating a better world requires that we all extend ourselves to some degree. What we experience here now is an example of that effort,” NAME said.
