1 injured after three cars crash into moose in Westborough

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — Police say one person was hurt and a moose was killed in an early morning crash in Westborough involving the animal and multiple vehicles.

According to police, the moose was crossing Route 9 at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday when it was hit by three vehicles in the westbound lanes.

Police said the moose was at least 10 feet tall, and crossed the eastbound lanes before stepping over the median into the westbound lanes when it was hit.

The first car was driven by a 35-year-old Shrewsbury man who was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The moose was then hit by a Mack truck and another car.

"I was just coming back from work and there was a big animal in the road.” Javier Boremeo, the third driver, said.

By the time Boremeo hit the moose it was already dead.

All three vehicles were towed from the scene and wildlife officials removed the dead moose.
