1 dead in Westwood fire

WESTWOOD, Mass. — A man is dead following a fire in Westwood.

Police were called to a structure fire at 70 Tamarack Road in Westwood Wednesday night. Crews from multiple towns helped put out the flames as the victim was rushed to the hospital.

The state fire marshal confirms the man has since died. The victim's name will not be released until family is notified.

Westwood fire and several assisting crews spent hours dousing the flames and putting out hot spots despite the danger of collapse.

The investigation is ongoing.

Fire officials say this is the third fire death so far in 2018.
