RECIPE:

  • 1 bag mini marshmallows,
  • 1 box rice krispies
  • Blue, green, yellow and red food dye
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • White icing and red icing for decoration
  • At least one jersey cookie cutter (can buy at Walmart, Sur La Table, and Amazon)

Makes 6 jersey rice krispies

You can make these in the microwave or on the stove top. These directions are for the stovetop.

1. Take a medium size pot and melt three tablespoons of butter over medium heat

2. While the butter is melting, mix your food coloring. IT is difficult to get true navy, but if you use blue and then a few drops of the other colors, it will darken. You can mix until you get a desired color.

3. After the butter is melted, add whole package of marshmallows. Stir occasionally until thoroughly melted and combined.

4. Put the food coloring into the marshmallow mixture and stir until combined. At this point, you can add coloring to change the blue if needed.

5. Prepare your jersey cookie cutters - have them on a flat surface with either a greased surface or baker's paper underneath to prevent sticking.

6. Stir about 6 cups of rice krispies into the marshmallow mixture.

7. Once combined, take the mixture off the heat and work quickly to put the rice krispies into the cookie cutter shapes. This gets very messy, but it's easier as the krispies cool a bit. After the cookie cutter(s) are all full, take a knife and pat down the rice krispie treats to get a nice flat top.

8. Let the krispies totally cool. Then, remove from the cookie cutter. Note: if you only have one cookie cutter, you can let the treat cool for about five minutes and then remove to continue using the cookie cutter for more treats. If you do this, keep the rice krispie mixture over a low heat.

9. Using the icing, write a "12" in white" on the middle of the jersey and use the white to accent the jersey. Take the red frosting, outline the "12".

10. Enjoy at your AFC watch party!
