17th annual 'Buddy Walk and Family Festival' set to break record

WAKEFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress and their 17th annual "Buddy Walk and Family Festival" had a record-breaking day Sunday.

Four-thousand people came out to Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield Sunday. FOX 25 was a proud media sponsor, and for the second year in a row, FOX 25's Heather Hegedus, a North Shore native, was the event's emcee.

The walk raises money and awareness to help children and adults with Down syndrome lead meaningful lives.

Organizers of the walk hoped to raise $475,000, and they believed they were on track to meet that goal.
