Steven Tyler will not be coming back to hit FOX show "American Idol" for a third season.
TMZ obtained a statement from Tyler, reading: "After some long ... hard ... thoughts ... I've decided it's time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol' before she boils my rabbit."
As TMZ reports, the "boils my rabbit" reference alludes to the movie "Fatal Attraction" in which a woman kills a pet rabbit belonging to her lover's family.
Tyler also adds that he wants to get back to his first love, Aerosmith.
American Idol co-creator Simon Fuller says that the show will miss him and that he understands Tyler's wish to get back to his work as the lead singer in "America's greatest-ever rock band."
