Oscars mess up envelopes, 'Moonlight' actually wins Best Picture

LOS ANGELES — Somewhere, Steve Harvey is saying, "see, not that hard."

There was apparently an envelope mix-up the Oscars for the final and most prestigious award, Best Picture.

"I knew I would screw this show, I really did," said host Jimmy Kimmel.

Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were announcing the award. Beatty later explained when he read the card it said, "Emma Stone La La Land". He paused, and then Dunaway announced La La Land, while Beatty looked confused.

The "La La Land" cast and crew ran onto the Oscar stage and started giving speeches. However, it soon became clear something was wrong, and then "La La Land" producer Jordan Horowitz announced that "La La Land" had not won, but "Moonlight" had. He had to make it clear it "wasn't a joke."

Then the "Moonlight" cast and crew ran onto the stage, as the "La La Land" awkwardly walked off.

Kimmel apologized, saying he messed it up.

"It's just an awards show and we got to see some extra speeches," he said.

Many are comparing this to Steve Harvey's famous flub when he announced the incorrect Miss Universe.
