What's up for the weekend: March 14-16

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- This weekend we're going green from flower shows to St. Patrick's Day festivities and more.

The big south Boston St. Patricks Day parade is this weekend. Adults and children flock to Southie to celebrate and enjoy the parade. Other cities and towns have their own parades as well. The Scituate St. Patrick's Day parade first began as a small procession. Now it's a full-fledged event to celebrate Scituate's Irish heritage.

And in Lawrence, they're starting their parade again for the first time in three years. The city's new leader, Mayor Rivera, will be on the morning show Thursday to talk about it.

You know Boston has a rich Irish American history, but did you know that there's an Irish heritage trail? It's a 20 stop tour that features important historical events in the lives of Irish descendants.

Flashdance the musical opens Wednesday as part of the Broadway in Boston series. Flashdance features all the hit songs from the movie, from Maniac to What a Feeling to I Love Rock and Roll. Performances at the Citi Emerson Colonial Theatre will run this weekend and next.

The 2014 Boston Flower & Garden show themed "Romance in the Garden" is at the Seaport World Trade Center Wednesday through the weekend.

The Dropkick Murphy's will be playing at the House of Blues this weekend. The Quincy natives will be rocking out with their Irish influence at five concerts currently scheduled Thursday through Sunday.
